MSG: The Hidden Health Robber ~ Part 2

MSG is now estimated to be added to over two-thirds of pseudo-food brands. It’s primarily found in soups, broths, bouillon, salad dressings, sauces, frozen meals, candy, seasonings, ice cream and candy. Eating whole, fresh, natural foods and purchasing only natural brand processed foods is the best way to avoid it.

Do check labels in the health food stores, however. Unfortunately, I have run across it in a few natural brand processed foods as well, usually listed as “autolyzed yeast extract,” or “yeast extract.” Although some people may have no reaction to MSG in these forms, those of us who are very sensitive to it may. Also be aware that “natural flavoring” is a catch-all phrase for what is frequently a lengthy list of chemicals which can include MSG.

Commercial dairy products may also cause MSG reactions in MSG-sensitive people because some dairy products are ultra-pasteurized, some are fermented, and many contain additives that are problematic for MSG-sensitive people.

Since starting to educate people about the problems associated with monosodium glutamate (MSG), I have received numerous testimonies and thank you notes from people who have benefited from eliminating processed foods that contain this toxic flavor enhancer from their diet. Although relief from migraines and other headaches are reported the most, many others have reported getting relief from everything from PMS to brain fog to depression to hot flashes and more, by taking this one simple action.
