If you care about your health read this book!
This book is a must read for anyone that cares about what they put into their mouth. . .With the rise of juvenile diabetes, heart disease, and an increase in cancer, not a decrease with all the treatments, this book brings us right back to basics. Start with your diet. Start with the food given to us by nature. Read the boxes. If an ingredient has more than two syllables it probably isn’t food.

Kelly Hayford has a great writing style, and an excellent sense of humor so you won’t find this book a dry or boring detailed account of what we should eat. You may actually laugh reading this book. Another excellent bonus is each page contains an excerpt from different books, and medical and scientific studies of astounding facts to the lack of health in this nation. (Make sure to read the margins). I highly recommend this book and am so surprised it is not a New York Times Bestseller.

Kelly: I just wanted to say thanks. My sister-in-law recently gave me a copy of If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It! and it has truly changed my life. I could write my own book about all the things I have tried to get rid of the persistent migraines I have experienced every day for nearly three years. This book put an end to all that pain and suffering! I can enjoy life now thanks to your education.

I would also like to add that I have so much more patience and I feel like a whole person for the first time in my life. I have always been very high strung. I am like a whole new person. May God bless you in everything you do in your life for you have helped so many people to enjoy their own lives. Thanks again.

If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It! is well written, informative and makes the subject of eating well entertaining and easy to read. Thank you Kelly for this information. It has helped my husband and me so much!

My son, who is 11, has had headaches for most of his life. He would often have to come in from playing to lie down. There were times when he would cry from the pain. Then I started following Kelly’s first guideline to Eating for Health, “if it’s not food, don’t eat it!” It was actually not that hard to do. He has not had a headache since I made the change to natural foods. I also have a daughter who is 14 and full of all the emotions and hormones that come with that age. Since the change to Eating for Health her moods and behaviors have greatly improved. As for me, I feel better than I have felt in a very long time and am getting better every day.

Wow! we’ve been duped. I never realized the extent to which the food industry is manipulating the public and the devastating results of their actions. It’s like the tobacco industry all over again. I have read many diet and nutrition books, participated in many better nutrition and weight loss programs, but nothing ever got through to me like reading If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It! It has completely changed not only the way I eat, but how I view our whole society.

I completely love your book If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It! It is on a level that I can relate to, as I have just started to learn about nutrition. Your book is very encouraging and uplifting, in spite of the grim facts about our typical American diet. Your philosophy of “step-by-step” takes the frustration out of changing everything I ever knew about eating.

This book should be taught in grade schools as well as high schools. You wrote about things that I had never known before. I will always continually refer to your recipes. They have even stood the test of my husband who never thought nutritious food could taste so good!

For the first 30 years of my life I completely neglected my body. Consequently I developed multiple health problems and reached a point of desperation where I realized I had to make changes. I didn’t have a clue where to begin. Then I met Kelly and started implementing the suggestions in If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It!, which resulted in a complete turn around in my health! It was much easier than I imagined. I highly recommend this book to anyone who cares about themselves and their health.

First, let me just say how impressed I am with your book. It was so wonderful to not feel pressured or scolded into making drastic changes right now. I love the “crowd it out” theory and that is how I am starting. I also love your recommendations for preparing vegetables. The idea of cooking sweet potatoes (my favorite) and steaming rice while chopping/storing veggies is really brilliant!

Thanks again for your wonderful book! I can tell that you have “been there” where I am at now – wanting to improve my health, but not really knowing how or where to begin. I have started to incorporate more fruits/veggies, less processed food, a lot less diet soda, and am taking green food capsules daily. I am already starting to feel more energy, and that is really awesome!

Although I knew advertising ploys play a big part in what society ‘eats’, I loved the no-nonsense approach of stating the facts. I learned a ton in this book and really loved the quotes and excerpts along the margins of each page. We really need to educate ourselves about what we’re ingesting. It’s one thing we do have control over! This book was highly informative and refreshing!!

A Must Read, Full Of Healthy Ammunition!
Kelly Hayford has written an informative, eye-opening, and highly readable book that gives the reader an armload of reasons to improve their own diet and ample ammunition for gently encouraging their loved ones to do the same.

Kelly makes a great case for avoiding what is artificial or processed and she does it in a thought-you-might-want-to-know way that presents solid data to give you food for thought. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun.)

This is not a diet book! This is a book to help you achieve and maintain the dietary side of fitness and health. Kelly is no stranger to the kind of marginal health that can result from terrible eating habits. Her own story, presented at the beginning of the book, sets the stage for what has become a calling for her: helping ordinary folks create healthier habits around food in a doable and enjoyable way. — Well done, Kelly!

Kelly Hayford’s book and teachings are amazing! I’ve read her book and made a few simple dietary changes as she suggests and can’t believe the results. In the first week, I lost 5 pounds while STILL EATING. In 4 weeks, I’ve lost 10 pounds and feel great. I’ve almost entirely cut-out sugar, caffiene and alcohol and find that my digestive health, skin quality and energy are dramatically improved.

Kelly gives a simple, no-nonsense view of the Standard American Diet (SAD) and the ill effects of eating non-foods, including the marketing strategies to get us to eat these non-food products. She goes on to lay out a simple owner’s manual for the human body and how to nourish it as nature meant — with whole, fresh, natural foods.

I’m buying a copy of this book for the important people in my life who will benefit greatly from Kelly’s ideas. Spread the word!
